My sister-in-law's son and daughter-in-law are working towards a domestic adoption. A friend's daughter and son-in-law have adopted internationally (several times). A former church staff member adopted internationally. Several families from our church have adopted. I have a special place in my heart for those adopted,those who adopt, and those who have made the hard choice to give for adoption.
I was adopted. I was adopted internationally before it was socially acceptable. I was adopted before it was acceptable to have bi-racial families. I was adopted before classes were given to the adopting parents. I was adopted before support groups were in existence. I was adopted before it was ok to teach about the adopted child's culture or heritage.
Adoption is a wonderful gift. I am thankful for adoption.
